Grand Blue Races and Traits
Wardrobe odds, Human as a real choice, and two Trait slots that follow you to every island.
Race and Traits are the wardrobe gacha. They are not cursed fruits. They do not spawn on trees. They spin on Customize Character with counters that Release! fills. If you treat them like a fruit table, you will chase 0.15% Mythic Traits and ignore the plant that actually dropped Flame.
Redeem first: how to redeem. Spend order: rerolls. Planner: reroll planner.
Race
A fresh slot shows Human with left/right arrows. That is the default, not a consolation prize. Pirate RPGs from this design family use Race for movement extras, extra HP, extra swim, extra regen, or extra damage to a faction. Until the Logbook prints a full race table, we will not invent Fishman stats.
What we will say:
- Five Race Rerolls from Release! is enough to look around, not enough to catalog the whole pool.
- If Human already feels fine after getting started, keep it.
- If a Race name clearly matches a fruit you own (a swim Race with Cannon, a melee Race with Strength), that is a spend.
- Change Slots creates another body. It does not clone Race Rerolls.
When Eternal Pose publishes the rest of the Race names, they go here in the same patch as updates.
Traits
Two slots: Trait 1 and Trait 2. Empty slots say “Spin for a trait.” Trait Storage with a plus button is how you bank extras if the UI allows it. Purchase Rerolls is the paid top-up. Code rerolls are the free top-up.
The Chances panel lists Mythic at 0.15%. Other named lines sit under it (the wardrobe screenshot shows additional labels in that list). Ten Trait Rerolls from Release! will almost never hit Mythic. They will almost always hit something you can actually wear on island one.
How to spin without tilting:
- Pick a fruit or admit you are on Cannon. Fruit tiers.
- Spin Trait 1. If it mentions fruit damage, cooldown, or HP, keep it.
- Spin Trait 2. Prefer a different axis (HP if Trait 1 was damage).
- Only reroll a slot whose text you understood and hated.
- Stop while you still have a spare spin. Early Access will add Trait names worth a later reroll.
Mythic 0.15% is a trap for week one
Math: 0.15% means hundreds of expected spins. Codes are not that. If a YouTuber hits Mythic on stream, that is a thumbnail, not a plan. Your plan is two filled slots that do not fight your build.
Traits versus fruits versus styles
- Fruits: 1–5 keys, spawn on plants, mastery saves. Cursed fruits.
- Fighting styles: M1 identity. Combat.
- Traits: passive modifiers on the wardrobe.
- Race: body layer.
A Strength Fruit plus a melee Trait plus a fast style is a coherent melee player. A Spin Fruit plus a Mythic-chase empty slot plus a Race you hate is a screenshot. Be the first.
Faction is separate
Pirate versus Marine is not a Trait. Do not spend Race Rerolls trying to “become more Pirate.” Colour is a flag. Factions.
When the UI lies
Early Access can show a Trait with a blank description, a Race arrow that wraps to Human, or a storage plus that does nothing. Screenshot it. Ask in Discord. Do not burn the last reroll on a blank tooltip.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Early Access pirates and marines.
What race do I start as in Grand Blue?
Human. Keep it until you have a reason to spend Race Rerolls.
What does Mythic 0.15% mean?
That is the wardrobe chance for Mythic Traits. Ten code spins will not buy it. Fill usable slots instead.
How many Trait slots are there?
Two on the public wardrobe: Trait 1 and Trait 2, plus a Trait Storage plus button.
Do Traits reset when I swap fruits?
No. Traits sit on the character. Fruit mastery also saves per fruit.
